Abstract | Mitochondrial quality control (MQC) plays a crucial role in maintaining mitochondrial health. Mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy are two intricate processes of the MQC machinery acting at the organelle level to orchestrate mitochondrial homeostasis. Here, we discuss how viruses perturb these two processes to facilitate their infections and emphasize the rationale and challenges of therapeutically targeting MQC for treating viral diseases. |
